The School of Health and Human Services at Southern Connecticut State University is proud to offer students seven different disciplines of study. Master of Public Health

Those who pursue a master's degree in public health from Southern Connecticut State University will learn to promote, maintain and enhance the health of the public. There is a strong focus on community service and research in this program in order to help members of the public take hold of their own well-being. Students are taught the importance of human rights, diversity and community involvement throughout their instruction. In order to successfully graduate with a master's degree in public health, students will need to complete a minimum of 48 credit hours. These credits are made of 30 core credit hours, 12 specialization credits and six credits that come from either a thesis or special project.

University of Connecticut

School of Medicine

The University of Connecticut School of Medicine has been a part of the institution since 1961. Since that time, the curriculum has been focused on a mix of science and humanities in order to produce top talent in the medical field. The curriculum focuses on problem-based learning, disease prevention, chronic care and more. Students who are admitted to this program are not only evaluated on their academic performance, but also their achievements and extracurricular activities. Master of Public Health

The University of Connecticut has been offering a master's degree in public health since 1984. This is a professional level degree program that is designed for those who are interested in a career in public health. Through the carefully chosen curriculum, students will be well prepared to enter into the workforce with the highest standards of scholarship and leadership. Students will be able to use their public health knowledge in both Connecticut and throughout the world. Yale University

School of Public Health

The School of Public Health located at Yale University if focused on teaching students to have top leadership skills and to improve the overall health of the public. Through their research and analysis, those who choose to attend this school will get a very well-rounded educational experience in public health. The school offers a number of programs in public health including one of the accredited Master of Public Health degree programs in Connecticut. Students who graduate from this school will have the experience and knowledge they need to enter into the public health field.

Master of Public Health

Students who are interested in a master's degree in public health will be able to specialize in one of seven different areas including epidemiology of microbial diseases and biostatistics. Students will also have the option of adding a Global Health Concentration certificate or Regulatory Affairs certificate. Students who work towards this degree are also encouraged to take courses from other departments as Yale promotes an interdisciplinary approach to their curriculum.
The MPH is a two-year degree, and students will need to complete a total of 20 course units. These units will include core courses, electives and requirements through the department. Students will also need to complete a public health practice experience which will allow students to interact with the public and enhance their classroom knowledge.
