Community and Behavioral Health Department

The Community and Behavioral Health Department at the Colorado School of Public Health has a number of programs that are designed to prepare students for a career in the public health sector. Students in this department are taught the importance of applying the theories of social and behavioral science. Curriculum is focused on studying behavior in the community and how it is associated with public health. There are a number of public behaviors that are studied including mental health, drug abuse and nutrition. Students are encouraged to go out into the community and interact with the public both locally and afar.

Master of Public Health

The Colorado School of Public Health offers three different master’s degrees in public health to their students. Those who attend this accredited program will have the choice of pursuing a MPH in community and behavioral health, community health education or maternal and child health. The faculty at the school are fully involved in the educational process and offer their students a number of opportunities to use their knowledge and skills with the public. Students are also taught how to analyze data, conduct research and interact with their chosen community. Many students who graduate from this program with a master’s in public health degree will go on to work for public health agencies, in community-based organizations or in academia. Some will go on to pursue a Doctor of Public Health degree at this or at another college.
