Delaware, the second smallest state in the United States, has a significant number of nurses employed throughout the state, which is why accredited nursing administration degree programs in Delaware are growing in importance. In 2014, there were 10,370 registered nurses in the state as well as 550 nurse practitioners. The average salary for registered nurses in the state was $71,410 and for nurse practitioners $101,440.
Recently, Bayhealth, one of the largest healthcare organizations in the state, announced that they were building a new, state-of-the-art health campus in the southern part of the state. The new hospital will replace Bayhealth's Milford Memorial Hospital campus on Clarke Avenue, but will be significantly larger and more expansive than the one currently in operation.
The state is also home to A.I. DuPont Nemours Children's Hospital, a worldwide leader in children's health. Bayhealth also announced that a satellite campus for A.I. Dupont Nemours will also be built on the grounds of their campus near Milford. The new health campus and satellite children's hospital promise to bring many new jobs to the state, especially in the nursing field.
Although some of these will be registered nurses or nurse practitioners, there will also be an increased need for nursing administrators, further strengthening the need for individuals who have successfully completed accredited nursing administration degree programs in Delaware.
