The School of Public Health at University of Washington is home to almost 1500 students, most of which are graduate students. Their mission is to educate future public health leaders and scientists, advance public health science through research, and service communities by promoting health and well-being. The SPH is divided into six departments: Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, Global Health, Health Services, or part of an Interdisciplinary Program in Health Administration, Maternal and Child Health, Nutritional Sciences, Pathobiology, and Public Health Genetics.
Master of Public Health
Earning a Master in Public Health provides students with the knowledge to help prevent the spread of disease, safeguarding clean air and water, and guarding against health risks locally, nationally, and globally. Regardless of which department they choose, all students need to earn 63 semester credits over a 2-3 year period. Upon completion, graduates can work for top notch institutions seeking to create a safe, clean environment for under-developed places around the globe.
Students can partner with any of the 50 Centers and Institutes that seek to improve senior citizens quality of life, prevent HIV and provide care across the world, and studies the long-term effects of air pollution on our health. Some of the departments are narrowed down to focus on specific issues. The Global Health Department also includes Health, Metrics, and Evaluation, as well as Leadership, Policy and Management, and Peace Corps Master's International. Health Services offers Health Systems and Policy and Social and Behavioral Sciences concentrations.
