Master's Entry into Professional Nursing (MEPN)
The Master's Entry into Professional Nursing program is intended for students with a bachelor's degree in a different field that desire to pursue a nursing career. The program provides individuals with a general nursing foundation and additional abilities in practice-based application and leadership. After completion of the program, students receive both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing. The program requires the completion of about 66 credit hours and two years to complete, including summer semesters. Examples of the nursing core courses include introduction to professional nursing practice, therapeutic nursing intervention, child health, foundations for advanced practice, adult health, community health, clinical prevention and population health, and transitions to practice. Many courses include research, laboratory, and clinical components. The clinical components often require 70 to 140 hours of clock time in a clinical setting.
